The possibility of alien life has captivated the human imagination for decades and has been at the center of some of our most popular fictional stories. But one scientist has made a controversial claim that aliens are no long a fiction but a reality.
Avi Loeb is a theoretical physicist and former chair of the astronomy department at Harvard University. For the past few years, he’s argued that an alien artifact, called Oumuamua, passed by Earth in 2017.
As you can imagine, a Harvard professor going on record that aliens exist caused quite a stir in the scientific community. On this episode, we talk through this controversy with Loeb and why he thinks we need to invest more in the search for alien life by developing a new field of “space archaeology.”

The Wellington Phoenix have missed the chance to move into the A-League top six, after a frustrating 0-0 draw with Brisbane in awful conditions on Saturday night.
After a quiet first half, the Phoenix came home strong, but couldn t get the goal that their finale probably deserved, despite a series of late chances.

A 97th-minute penalty has secured Wellington a vital 2-1 A-League win over Adelaide United and moved the Phoenix into the competition s top six.
Wellington have secured a vital 2-1 A-League win over Adelaide United thanks to a last-gasp penalty winner from marquee man Tomer Hemed.
The Phoenix threw everything forward in the dying minutes of Sunday s Anzac Day clash at WIN Stadium in pursuit of a winner, and were rewarded when substitute Jashua Sotirio was clattered by Reds goalkeeper Joe Gauci in the fifth minute of added time.
“When we were 11 men [versus 10] I thought we were casual, we were a little bit sloppy. I thought we made some very poor decisions and the execution wasn’t good as well. “It’s disappointing. It’s two points dropped. It was an opportunity for us to get three points from this game.”
