Teen s 1988 disappearance remains a mystery; car found in lake not his

Harold Leach died last week at age 79 not knowing the fate of his son, Randy Leach, whose disappearance nearly 33 years ago remains a mystery. Media accounts published after 17-year-old Randy Leach vanished with his mother s car in April 1988 suggested he d been killed by members of a Satanic cult after attending a graduation party in rural Leavenworth County. Relatives and friends hoped the mystery would be solved Wednesday as they watched live video on The Capital-Journal s Facebook page showing a submerged car being pulled out of Lake Perry. Please let this be Randy s car God, Julie Jack-Spencer wrote in a comment on that page. This is my step cousin. Family needs some kind of closure.

Hey Maine, These Iconic Cars Came Out The Year You Were Born

Hey Maine, These Iconic Cars Came Out The Year You Were Born This came up in a conversation here at the station earlier this week.  What was the BIG car model that came out the year you were born?  And, have you ever owned one of those cars?  Would you ever own one? For me, it was the Saab 900 Turbo.  Kind of ironic, because I have never been a fan of the now defunct Swedish auto-maker.  Actually, it looks like I should have been born six months later.  Why?  The very next year one of my favorite cars came out.  The Audi Quatro.  The model of Audi was their first vehicle that featured their amazing 4-wheel-dirve / all-wheel-drive system.  Now, I ve never owned a Quatro, but I have owned a much new all-wheel-drive Audi A4.

The Legend Of PB Blaster

The Legend Of PB Blaster Illustration: Jason Torchinsky/Blaster Advertisement We lived outside Cleveland and were of humble means, which is a nice way of saying that our cars were crappy. And because those cars had spent their lives in the Midwest, they were rusty, too. Dad had a truly shitty Chevy Chevette for a while, a Plymouth Valiant from the Nixon administration at some point and a fourth-generation Chevy Malibu that lasted longer than you’d expect. There were at least three Volvo 240s, a Volvo 740 and even a Volvo 260. Somewhere in there was an Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. And those are just the cars I can remember, as we cycled through used car after used car. My dad had gone to trade school as a younger man and obtained a certificate in automotive repair, which he hung on the wall in the basement laundry room. He never actually became a mechanic he couldn’t afford to buy his own tools, he would explain so instead he got a job at what used to be called the Welfare

Limited-Edition 1974 Hurst/Olds Pace Car For Sale

Sponsored Links George Hurst came to Pontiac in hopes of creating a performance package for the Firebird. Pontiac didn’t bite, but General Motors thought it might be able to apply Hurst’s ideas to Oldsmobile, creating an appeal to younger buyers. The outcome was the 1968 Hurst/Olds, which came with the monster 455 Big Block, the largest engine available in the A-body platform. GM had banned use of any engine in excess of 400 cubic inches in A-body cars, but Oldsmobile managed to skirt the rule by doing final assembly and modification off-site. Despite limited production, Oldsmobile was flooded with orders.
