The drag ascension of Olivia Lux has certainly been rapid.
Just about a year and a half after the New Jersey native, Brooklyn-based performer made her drag debut, she s part of the cast of RuPaul s Drag Race Season 13, airing 8 p.m. Fridays on VH1.
Lux, 26, hails from the Vineland and Buena Vista Township area of Atlantic County and she s a hit at the Jersey Shore as the current reigning Miss Paradise at the Paradise nightclub in Asbury Park a title she earned in February, after submitting her Drag Race audition tape. As an artist and a drag queen, that was the biggest thing I had ever done prior to Drag Race and it was such a huge, monumental night for me and I like to call them The House of Lux, the folks that really helped me put together Olivia Lux, but also for the community, Lux said. RuPaul s Drag Race has released a teaser clip of season 13 s second episode. In what seems to be the first few minutes of the episode, the performers queuing in the Porkchop Loading Dock have to make their decision on who is going home.
First: a brief recap. In the history-making premiere episode (most viewers in herstory for an episode of the show,) Ru serves up a format twist: Queens make their entrance, meet one other competitor and then must face off in a lip sync. One is crowned the winner, and the other gets The Porkchop; She is sent to wait in the Porkchop Loading Dock. The queens there include Rose, Utica Queen, Denali, Tamisha Iman, Kahmora Hall, Elliott with the 2 T s, and Joey Jay. The other queens that s Tina Burner, Kandy Muse, Olivia Lux, Gottmik, and Symone get to go back to the Werk Room to kiki and untuck.
Along with Anne Hathaway and Scarlett Johansson who will be teaching virtual masterclasses.
