Greene King donates laptops to Suffolk schools during Covid

The Bury St Edmunds-based brewer has donated 110 laptops to schools across towns including Bury St Edmunds, Haverhill, Newmarket, Sudbury, Ipswich and Felixstowe. It said it was keen to support its community in Suffolk and had decided to give them to the children most in need through the Unity Schools Partnership. Greene King IT boss Karrie Baugh said schools were doing an amazing job with remote learning.

Teachers in Suffolk will be able to be tested more regularly - Credit: Getty Images/iStockphoto Primary school teachers in Suffolk have welcomed increased coronavirus testing as a way of relieving anxiety for staff.   Under revised rules, the Government has suggested that all primary school teachers be tested for the virus twice a week with what is known as lateral flow tests.   The tests are designed to detect the virus in people who show no outward symptoms but could be contagious.  Secondary schools were recommended to begin testing at the start of the school term but for many primary schools testing will begin next week.

The new rapid Covid testing at Westley Middle School - Credit: Westley Middle School Welcome to Westley Middle School s new rapid coronavirus testing operation - which aims to become a key ingredient in keeping children safe, while in education as much as possible. The aim is that close contacts of infectious people will be offered daily tests instead of self-isolating for 10 days, so they can reduce school absence - although they will have to stay at home if they do test positive for Covid, of course. Secondary, middle and special schools across the Unity Schools Partnership have now begun testing for staff and those students still attending in person.
