Swindon Crown Court A CONVICTED robber has admitted a drunken assault that saw him rain down punches and kicks on a man in Chippenham. Ryan Steer, 21, had faced allegations of wounding with intent and common assault, with both assaults said to have been committed on November 23 last year. On Thursday, the Chippenham man, formally of Unity Street, appeared before Swindon Crown Court via video link from Bristol prison and pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of causing grievous bodily harm as well as the common assault charge. Judge Peter Crabtree heard he had been recalled on licence and was expected to remain in custody until September. The judge remanded Steer in custody to be sentenced on a date to be fixed.
