City urged to address housing backlog and illegal informal trading in Region F Page Content ​Residents of Region F have urged the City to address the housing backlogs, illegal backyard housing structures, abandoned and derelict buildings and highjacked building in the inner city.  This emerged during the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) consultation meeting for Region F at Joubert Park on Wednesday, 21 April 2021. “We are concerned that there are people who are on the 96/97 Housing Waiting List and have not been allocated houses. What is the city’s plan in fast-tracking the building of RDP houses? We have been renting for years in backyards and derelict flats with major maintenance and structural issues,” said Yvonne Mohlauli from Ward 123.

Bulk infrastructure to be rolled out in Ivory Park Page Content ​The quality of service delivery in Ivory Park will get much-deserved improvement when the City rolls out bulk infrastructure there in the next three financial years.   A lion’s share of the money allocated to Ivory Park from June 2021 will go towards constructing tarred roads, stormwater drains and increasing water distribution networks as well as reliable electrical connections.   Speaker of Council, Cllr Nonceba Molwele says the City will partner with the community of Ivory Park on these development projects to enhance the quality of life in the area. One resident comments: “We are very happy to hear such great news from the City and we look forward to seeing the change we need.”

The draft documents are also being presented for input in ongoing virtual & physical public meetings.
