She wanted other parents to know and do something about what he was experiencing. And she wanted their equity efforts to go well beyond simply planning a Black History Month celebration.
Similar parent-led racial equity groups have recently sprouted or attracted new interest at other elementary schools, including Burroughs, Armatage, Kenwood and Northrop. Their work to address racial disparities in Minneapolis schools has taken on more urgency after the death of George Floyd and amid the controversial redesign that will reshuffle the racial demographics at schools citywide. But so far, many of the groups are at white-majority schools and consist of mostly white parents.

Twenty-four hours after having to share points with Jennings, table toppers CUB Bethesda Golden Eagles kept their unbeaten run alive in the State Insurance Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Association (ABCA) Super 40 Competition on Sunday, romping to an emphatic 143 runs against Massy United Insurance Combined Schools.
Playing in Bethesda, the home team amassed 258 for eight in their allotment of 40 overs after winning the toss and opting to bat.

Caribbean Union Bank (CUB) Bethesda Golden Eagles, after managing to remain perfect in four matches to date, sits atop the 10 team standings in the Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Association (ABCA) State Insurance Super 40 Competition with 16 points.
The Bethesda men have enjoyed victories against rivals PIC Liberta Blackhawks, Anderson Carty Empire Nation, Bolans Blasters and Pigotts Crushers to dominate their field thus far.
Captain of the Bethesda team, and leading scorer with 330 runs in four matches,
Deran Benta, credited his team’s string of successes to proper preparation and application during matches.

CUB Bethesda Golden Eagles racked up their fourth victory in as many matches in the State Insurance Super 40 Cricket Competition with a three-wicket victory over Anderson Carty Empire Nation on Sunday.
Asked to bowl after Empire won the toss, Bethesda restricted the home team to 179 for nine in their allotment of 40 overs.
Cleton Payne cracked seven fours and one six on his way to a top score of 61 while Leeward Islands Hurricanes opener Kieran Powell made 31.
Essan Warner was best with the ball for Bethesda, claiming three wickets for 24 runs in eight overs.
