State expands addiction treatment for Oregon Health Plan members
PORTLAND, Ore. (KTVZ) The Oregon Health Authority is pleased to announce expanded care for addiction services.
On Thursday, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services approved Oregon’s application for a five-year Medicaid 1115 Demonstration Waiver, which will increase access to treatment services for people with substance use disorders who are covered by the Oregon Health Plan.
Prior to the approval of the SUD waiver, any Institutions for Mental Disease could not bill services to Medicaid. IMDs are settings of more than 16 beds that are primarily engaged in providing diagnosis, treatment, or care of persons with mental diseases, including medical attention, nursing care, and related services.

Frontline workers and their families can get the vaccine. As we move into the days and weeks ahead, we will continue to deploy a vaccine strategy that is centered on prioritizing our most vulnerable, and ensuring access to the vaccine for everyone. To do this, we need to move in a manner that is both fast and fair, said Governor Brown. If you are a frontline worker as defined by the CDC, when you make a vaccine appointment for yourself, make them for your whole family, too. If you’re attending a community vaccine event, bring your family with you. We know it is not easy for everyone to find the time and transportation to get a vaccine. If you’re a frontline worker making the effort, bring your family, and do it all together.
