22 May 2021 / 22:46 H. - Bernama PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry (MOH) needs a period of two weeks to make the necessary preparation to contain the Covid-19 transmission in the country. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said among the preparations was to stock up on equipment and medicine as well as reviewing the layouts to further increase the wards and intensive care units (ICU) capacity for Covid-19 patients. Therefore, he appealed to all Malaysians to assist the ministry by imposing self and family restriction for two weeks in order to break the infection chain and allow hospitals to have more room to treat the increasing number of patients.

Darez Ahamed to head T N COVID-19 war room, nodal officers announced

Six nodal officers named for the Unified Command Centre. The Tamil Nadu government on May 9 announced the names of six nodal officers to the Unified Command Centre (UCC) that will function as the COVID-19 War Room. Darez Ahamed, Executive Director, Guidance, will head the UCC and will be in charge of overall co-ordination of the command centre. K. Nanthakumar, Secretary, TNPSC, will be the nodal officer for State oxygen monitoring and emergency response. Mr. Nanthakumar will co-ordinate with the Tamil Nadu Medical Supplies Corporation on all issues related to liquid medical oxygen and liaise with private hospitals for their oxygen requirements.
