Farmer unions agree to talk with Centre on December 29; Demand repeal of agri laws on agenda
The decision by the agitating farmers to hold another round of talks with the government was taken at a meeting of Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of 40 farmer unions.

NEW DELHI: After nearly 20 days of deadlock, protesting farmers decided to resume talks with the Centre for the sixth round on December 29, but set four tough conditions even as it urged the government to stop “the campaign launched by the entire state machinery to defame and malign the farmers’ movement.”

Farmers protesting against the Centre s three recent agriculture sector laws stayed put at the borders of Delhi amid biting cold weather on Sunday, firm on their demand for the repeal of the reforms.
This, as defence minister and senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh asserted that attempts to mislead the farmers will not succeed.

Thousands of farmers from Punjab, Haryana, UP and some other states are protesting against the Centre s new farm laws.
The Chilla and Ghazipur borders are closed for traffic coming from Noida and Ghaziabad to Delhi because of the ongoing farmers protest, the Delhi Traffic Police said on Friday. The traffic department has advised people to take alternate routes for coming to Delhi via Anand Vihar, DND, Apsara, Bhopra and Loni borders.
