US stocks retreat from all-time highs
Wall Street s main indexes slipped from record levels on Monday as investors locked in gains after a stellar vaccine and stimulus-fueled rally, while Twitter shares slumped following the permanent suspension of President Donald Trump s account. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 167.89 points, or 0.54%, to 30,930.08, the S&P 500 lost 28.84 points, or 0.75%, to 3,796.14 and the Nasdaq Composite lost 161.41 points, or 1.22%, to 13,042.36.
European shares rally falters
European stocks fell from over 10-month highs on Monday after rallying last week, as investors feared a surge in coronavirus cases across the continent and mainland China could delay an economic recovery. The pan-European STOXX 600 index fell 0.63%, easing from its February 2020 peak hit on Friday. Germany s DAX index shed 0.94% after hitting all-time highs last week and France s CAC 40 was down 0.84%.

Among the stocks that touched their 52-week lows on NSE were: Fairchem Organics; Jump Networks; Ravinder Heights; Anant Raj Global. Domestic benchmark index NSE Nifty was trading 109.40 points up at 13858.65, while the BSE Sensex was trading 340.98 points up at 47314.52. On the other hand, Firstsource Solutions, Carborundum Universal, Grindwell Norton, APL Apollo Tube and Indiabulls Ventures stocks hit their fresh 52-week high today.

Domestic benchmark index NSE Nifty was trading 86.35 points up at 13687.45, while the BSE Sensex was trading 283.91 points up at 46728.09. The domestic equity benchmarks ended the session near the day s high on Wednesday, mirroring positive global shares. The Nifty 50 index advanced 114.85 points or 0.85% at 13,682.70. Both the indices attained record closing high levels.
The Sensex hit a record high of 46,704.97 and the Nifty hit a record high of 13,692.35 in late trade. A possible approval of Moderna Inc s COVID-19 vaccine this week and progress in US stimulus talks lifted sentiment. The US Federal Reserve will issue an updated policy statement along with new economic projections on Wednesday. Traders will be watching closely for any changes to Fed view on when its benchmark policy rate might rise off zero.
