Lafourche woman pleads guilty in deadly 2018 crash
Reagan Bruce, 28, of Cut Off, pleaded guilty Monday to vehicular homicide, prosecutors said.
After Bruce entered her plea, District Judge Marla Abel sentenced her to 20 years in prison, the first five without probation, parole or early release.
The crash killed 28-year-old Stephanie Bellanger on Sept. 3, 2018. According to State Police, Bruce was traveling north on La. 308 in a 2013 Cadillac ATS and Bellanger was traveling south on La. 308 in a 2007 Pontiac G6.
Bruce veered off the road to the right in a left curve, overcorrected to the left and crossed the centerline before colliding with Bellanger’s car in the southbound lane, State Police said. Though Bellanger was wearing a seat belt, she suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Houma native Edwin Lodrigue was a man on a mission. Back in 2016, he wanted to find a way for his wife to enjoy wine without allergic reactions.
“She was really allergic to the histamine and sulfites, so we had to filter the wine. I m thinking, why do all that when we can just make it ourselves without any harmful chemicals? At first, I didn t know what I was doing,” Lodrigue said, “So we learned from our mistakes over and over and over. It s like sharpening knives.”
His Lodrigue Wines now offers small-batch, handcrafted bottles of wine made from Ponchatoula strawberries sourced from Fletcher Strawberry Farm and all-Louisiana ingredients. Each bottle costs $25.
