Harris, both of Albuquerque, were sentenced today in federal court for conspiracy to defraud the United States and other financial crimes committed in connection with the operation of Ayudando Guardians, Inc., a non-profit corporation that previously provided guardianship, conservatorship and financial management to hundreds of people with special needs.
Susan Harris was sentenced to 47 years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. William Harris was sentenced to 15 years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Both will be required to pay the entire amount of stolen funds as restitution to the victims.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY A former Long Island man who fled to Guatemala has been extradited to New York faced charges in a federal courtroom overlooking the same Central Islip park where he and fellow MS-13 gang members killed four people back in 2017, the U.S. Attorney s office said Friday.
Federal prosecutors said Henry Edenilson Salmeron, a 22-year-old who formerly lived in Brentwood, was apprehended by a transnational anti-gang unit in Guatemala and then was ordered extradited to the United States. Salmeron, who is a member of the criminal organization, La Mara Salvatrucha, more commonly referred to as MS-13, was a fugitive from justice, and was extradited on Thursday, prosecutors said.

Sioux City, IA (KICD)– A Cherokee County man is going to federal prison on a drug conviction.
42-year-old Jason Persons of Quimby was given more than seven years behind bars on Tuesday after pleading guilty last August to distributing methamphetamine in the Sioux City area.
Persons admitted to selling the drug during a post-arrest interview that he said helped support his own addiction that led to a similar conviction in 2003.
Following his time in prison, Persons will be required to serve a five-year term of supervised release. He remains in the custody of the United States Marshal pending transfer to a federal facility.
