Poppell comes to South Carolina from the University of Florida, where he was the head women’s swimming and diving coach during the last three seasons.

New Ticketing Plan Released for 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Swimming in June 2021 04/06/21 Following the January 2021 announcement that the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming would be split into two events, with Wave I on June 4-7, 2021 and Wave II on June 13-20, 2021, USA Swimming, the Omaha Sports Commission and the host venue have been working diligently to plan for the rescheduled event at the CHI Health Center in Omaha. In an effort to deliver the safest competition possible and to mitigate the potential spread of COVID-19, the venue seating map has been reconfigured, reducing daily session attendance capacity to approximately 50%. Given the June 2020 Trials had already sold tickets in excess of 90% of capacity, there will be a complete refund of tickets and re-sale beginning Friday, April 16.

2020 U.S. OLYMPIC TEAM TRIALS - SWIMMING SPLIT INTO TWO EVENTS 01/26/21 Wave I and Wave II to remain in Omaha at the CHI Health Center in June 2021 USA Swimming, the national governing body for the sport of swimming in the United States, in partnership with the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) and the Omaha Sports Commission today announced a revised plan and schedule for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming. The Olympic Trials will be divided into two competitions, with Wave I on June 4-7, 2021 and Wave II on June 13-20, 2021. Wave II will continue to serve as the sole qualifier for pool swimmers on the U.S. Olympic Team for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

January 2021 TYR Pro Swim Series Event To Change To Two Locations 01/01/21 Following the December 29, 2020, extension of the Regional Stay-at-Home Order for the Southern California Region, USA Swimming, in consultation with the city of Irvine and host club Novaquatics, has made the decision to cancel the Irvine location for the upcoming TYR Pro Swim Series event from January 14-17, 2021. The event will move forward with two competition locations, including the primary site in San Antonio, which is an invite-only field, along with the eastern site in Richmond, Va. San Antonio and Richmond will feature approximately 100 female and 100 male athletes, respectively. All local, state, and federal health guidelines will be strictly adhered to at each competition site and entry limits will reflect these local restrictions.
