Not in person, though. They were virtual services, after the global pandemic closed Manitoba houses of worship for more that half of the last 12 months. We had a variety (of experiences), Freynet-Agossa said of attending virtual Roman Catholic masses from her family s home in St. Boniface. In a way, we’ve exposed the kids to a bigger church without travelling.

When March 1 arrives, Tammey Aichner, will assume the position of director of the United Churches of Lycoming County and when she talks about her new job her excitement is infectious because she knows God has placed her there for His purpose. It was really a God moment, Aichner shared, one that took several years and many prayers to come to fruition. “I have been praying, not knowing what I was praying for, for a very long time,” she said. “Just, how can I continue to just praise and give glory to God? How can I just worship Him? What can I do in my life to have more of that?” Aichner, who is a pastor at First Church of Christ Disciples and also does Campus Ministry for United Churches, admitted that had been her prayer for years. A year of prayer something we can get behind is planned as part of the 75th anniversary celebration this year of United Churches of Lycoming County.
We believe prayer is needed now in a big way as our society continues to navigate its way through the public health crisis that is COVID-19. Certainly we can use the help of a higher power to get through this.
There are many more reasons for us to pray.
We pray for solutions to issues such as racism, poverty and mental health.
We pray for the personal health of loved ones who suffer from everyday afflictions, such as cancer.

For 75 years, the United Churches of Lycoming County has been bringing together area churches to serve the community. Sunday marks the beginning of a yearlong celebration of that achievement as they look ahead to the next challenges. The UCLC will kick off the celebration, which is titled “Shining Brightly Together,’ with an event livestreamed at 3 p.m. Sunday.
The featured speaker will be Bishop Barbara Collins, Upper Susquehanna Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, who will speak on “Shining Brightly Together: Be Strong and Courageous,” based on scripture from the first chapter of the Book of Joshua. Other events planned throughout the year begin with a week of prayer for Christian Unity to be held Jan. 18-25 as well as participating in the Martin Luther King Jr. v

Thunder Bay – LIVING – The United Churches of Thunder Bay invite everyone in the city and region to watch a special, on-line Christmas Eve service. The service will be streamed live at 9 p.m. on the website of Trinity United Church Thunder Bay.
The Revered Randy Boyd will be providing a message on the subject of Christmas in the Time of Covid.
The service will feature music by the Cosbey family of musicians as well as Thunder Bay tenor Justin Stolz and includes a series of familiar Christmas readings and carols including O Come All Ye Faithful, Angels We Have Heard on High, Away in a Manger and Joy to the World.
