Income tax assistance
WILLMAR Free help for low- and middle-income taxpayers to file tax returns will be available again this year by United Community Action Partnership.
Tax preparation will be done virtually this year as a safety precaution due to COVID-19. Tax documents may be submitted by program participants either online or in-person by appointment. The IRS-certified volunteers will prepare taxes based on these documents and collect the appropriate signatures either electronically or via mail to file the tax return.

Members of the Lyon County chapter of the Salvation Army want to thank Marshall Hy-Vee for their contributions to the 2020 red kettle campaign. Hy-Vee made a financial match of up to $1,000 for contributions made during Santa Day during the campaign. The majority of funds raised by the area kettle campaign goes to help offer emergency assistance for area residents through United Community Action Partnership.

Humane Society
WILLMAR The 15th annual Save Our Tails fundraiser will be an online auction beginning Feb. 18 and running through Feb. 26 to raise money for the Humane Society of Kandiyohi and Meeker Counties. Go to the website www.ziemerauctions.com and then click auctions. You can then start the bidding to help the Humane Society help the animals.
Sons of the American Legion
SPICER The Sons of the American Legion will serve an omelet breakfast from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, at the American Legion in Spicer. Choose your own fixings and they will cook it using fresh eggs. Adult tickets are $8, ages 6-12 are $5, 5 and under eat free.

Lions Club
WILLMAR The Willmar Lions Club with have a drive-by donation event from noon to 5 p.m. Feb. 19 at Cub Foods in Willmar to collect cash and/or food donations for the Kandiyohi County Food Shelf.
