Radiation oncologist Dr. Charles Kunos recently joined Markey to serve as medical director of Markey’s Clinical Research Office (CRO).
LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 25, 2021) – The University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center announces that radiation oncologist Dr. Charles Kunos will join the center and serve as medical director of Markey’s Clinical Research Office (CRO).
In this role, Kunos will work to improve accrual to cancer clinical trials, maintain quality oversight of CRO processes and activity, and lead MCC’s efforts to decrease time-to-activation across all types of trials, in preparation for renewal of NCI designation in September 2022. Kunos will work closely with MCC senior leadership to ensure adequate resources and financial oversight of the CRO.

University of Kentucky President Eli Capilouto on Friday announced that he has selected College of Medicine Dean Bob DiPaola to serve as acting provost.
DiPaola will begin his duties as acting provost July 1 for a one-year appointment until June 30, 2022. Capilouto has announced he will begin a national search for a permanent provost this fall.

DiPaola is a highly regarded leader who has successfully engaged multidisciplinary groups for initiatives in research and education, Capilouto wrote in an email to the campus Friday afternoon.
