TOWCESTER, England (Reuters) - A UK startup has developed a glove with a built-in spinning gyroscope that it says can help people with Parkinson s disease and Essential tremor (ET) overcome their often debilitating tremors and regain control of their hands.
Both conditions affect over 200 million people worldwide and can cause patients hands to shake so much that everyday tasks such as eating and drinking become difficult or impossible.

Early-stage trials on new pressing techniques by AMRC engineers have helped Alusid avoid unnecessary research expenditure by testing their ideas before investing in new equipment.

Preston-based Alusid specialises in taking unwanted manufacturing materials destined for landfill and putting them through an environmentally low-impact process which results in a new kind of material, combining glass and porcelain, to create solid surfaces and tiles. In November 2020 the company, which began as a research project at the University of Central Lancashire, received £125,000 backing from the UK Government Future Fund as part of £250,000 fund raising.

SINGAPORE - Media OutReach - 25 February 2021 - UK-based neuromuscular medical device company, GyroGear Ltd has just concluded phase one of its seed round fundraise. This round was led by Foxconn Technology Group, the world s largest and foremost electronics manufacturer. Foxconn has invested £1 million (US$1.41 million) upfront. Participants in GyroGear s seed round include the UK Government Future Fund, Singapore venture builder Fidelium Group, and other established strategic investors and business leaders. Phase two of the seed round is ongoing and scheduled for completion in March 2021.

GyroGear is developing a wearable to help individuals with hand tremors. The wearable reduces tremors, so they may perform their day-to-day activities. This also brings relief to caregivers and family members.
