Australian Love-rat tradie who lured women with fake dating profiles arrested in the US

00:46 EDT, 21 April 2021 An accused serial fraudster who left his own mother homeless and allegedly fleeced lovers out of millions using fake dating profiles has been arrested in the US.  Paul Carter was taken into custody at his Watervliet home in upstate New York on April 7 and charged with lying on his 2018 US visa application about his criminal history and previous aliases. The 55-year-old was arrested by federal agents after an investigation by Department of Homeland Security investigators. The former Melbourne tradesman dubbed the Casanova Conman now faces up to 10 years in US federal prison and a possible $250,000 fine. There is also the chance he may be deported to Australia where he could face a litany of fraud charges.

Former church about to become trendy art gallery

Premium Content Subscriber only A development application to turn the former Uniting Church at Rous Mill into an art gallery is back on public exhibition. Ballina Shire Council received an application to turn the former church at 36 Rous Mill Road into an art gallery and pottery studio. The project included the use of the existing building as exhibition space, adding a deck, and the erection a building to be used for office and storage, an outdoor kitchen, bathroom and shared toilet amenities. The project also included new buildings for glazing and hand building, an undercover kiln, a pottery studio, plus and upgrading of the existing car access and provision of six on-site carparking spaces plus ancillary infrastructure.
