Businesses in the Auckland CBD should finally be safe from broadband outages - or at least those caused by blundering City Rail Link contractors slicing through fibre laid near the $4.4 billion rail project. Over the past few nights, techs have prepared an alternative duct route from the Mayoral Drive Exchange and hauled in 300 metres of new 312-fibre cable. This now bypasses the CRL Aotea station site and removes the risk to the Chorus network, a Chorus spokesman told the Herald early this week.

PHUKET: People living in elevated areas of Patong and Karon will face intermittent water-supply outages for 10 days, from tomorrow (Apr 23) through to May 2, the Phuket Waterworks Authority (PWA) has announced.

“The water supply will be affected while R.E.Q. Water Service Co Ltd conducts maintenance on the water-producing system in Karon,” explained PWA official Chalinthon Chanamai.
Pressure in the water supply pipes from the facility will be affected during the 10 days, to the level where areas on high ground will not have running water, he said.
Prolonged power outages in Hyderabad after rain

HYDERABAD: Owing to rainfall in Hyderabad on Sunday evening, several areas have been facing power outages for many hours. According to the spokesperson of the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO), out of the 70 feeders that were tripped due to rainfall, power has been restored in 30 of them.
The spokesperson added that the power supply had to be suspended to avoid untoward incidents as trees, signboards, and wires were broken due to the rainfall. Last year, torrential rains had lashed parts of Hyderabad, leading to a similar problem. Aside from prolonged power outages, drains across the city were left inundated. The streets of the second-largest city in Sindh were also flooded due to the rain while water entered houses and caused difficulties for residents. Water rising up to three feet outside several hospitals could be seen. In the city’s Latifabad and Qasimabad areas, the localities were submerge
