Minnesota Timberwolves coach Chris Finch wants his team to finish strong despite its record.
Finch continued to see those signs from his team despite losing 121-112 on Friday night to the playoff-bound Miami Heat.
On the second of three stops during their final road trip of the season, the Timberwolves (20-47) will face another team rebuilding for the future when they take on the Orlando Magic (21-46) on Sunday night.
The Magic led into the third quarter before losing to the playoff-contending Charlotte Hornets, 122-112 on Friday night. Orlando s young core continued to play well though as Dwayne Bacon scored a career-high 28 points and Mo Bamba had a career-high 18 rebounds for the Magic while Cole Anthony had 22 points.
ORLANDO Much as they have throughout the course of the season, the Orlando Magic are still adapting to injuries and acclimating new faces to the rotation even as their 2020-21 campaign is winding down.
With just six games left on their schedule – five on the road and one at home – the Magic (21-45) will continue the process evaluating their young talent and building winning habits when they visit the Charlotte Hornets (32-34) on Friday at 8 p.m. ET.
Even shorthanded and without much practice time, head coach Steve Clifford believes that his team can make strides over the final stretch of the season.
Young, hungry opponents have proven to be problematic for the Boston Celtics at times this season. They will face another one in the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night. Boston (34-31) will look to strengthen its record in hopes of avoiding the play-in round when it visits Orlando. The Celtics begin a stretch of five out of seven games away from home to close the regular season.

As good as the Celtics have looked in wins over contenders such as Milwaukee, Denver, Phoenix and the Los Angeles Clippers this season, they have played as poorly in losses to bottom dwellers such as Cleveland, Sacramento, Detroit and Oklahoma City.

DETROIT Mo Bamba had 22 points and 15 rebounds both career highs and the Orlando Magic beat the Detroit Pistons 119-112 on Monday night.
Saddiq Bey led Detroit with 26 points in a game that had little at stake with the possible exception of lottery positioning. The Pistons (19-46) have the second-worst record in the NBA. Orlando (21-44) is now even with Oklahoma City for the fourth-worst mark. Idle Minnesota (20-45) is in between.
