Jack and Solar TVA Links Iconic Distillery With Renewable Energy
The trend of supplying commercial and industrial locations with renewable energy along with the Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA’s) continuing support of investments in power projects that support sustainability is being recognized at one of the most-iconic distilleries in the U.S.
The TVA on April 13 said it has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Nashville-based solar power developer Silicon Ranch Corp. to provide 20 MW of solar capacity to the Jack Daniel’s distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee. The project is a partnership among TVA, Silicon Ranch, and the Duck River Electric Membership Corp., an electric cooperative that has served the area since 1936.

The new Golden Mill features five local food concept options, over 50 self-pour local brew taps, wines and house-made cocktails, live events, music, a rooftop patio, dog friendly patio, pop-up markets and more. When a group of Golden friends saw that a historic building in their town was in danger of redevelopment, they decided to take matters into their own hands.
Three years and more than $6 million later, The Golden Mill has opened to the public. It’s a food hall with five vendors, a beer hall with more than 50 local brews, and a community center with art and music, plus plenty of other events on tap.
Hops-heavy beers make good springtime sippers Hops-heavy beers are typically savored in fall, but there are plenty of reasons to make them springtime sippers.

I crave hops in the spring, and I m not typically a hophead. I love pilsners, and revel in the toasty and caramel character of malt. But something about the change of seasons lengthening days, rising temperatures, more opportunities to be outside makes me desire the crisp, bitter bite and the citrus, resin and tropical fruit flavors that hops deliver.
This seasonal craving makes no sense. Hop season is early fall, when the towering bines are cut from their trellises and the tender, bright green cones are harvested. That s when fresh or wet hop beers made with unprocessed flowers are brewed and released to eager hop lovers. By spring, it s just a distant memo
The view from the rooftop bar at Odell Brewing s new Sloan s Lake taphouse says it all: Denver is back.
Under the cheery euphoria of blues skies, warm weather and increasing vaccinations, people are bursting out of their homes and into the city s parks, onto the streets and around the corner to their neighborhood brewery. And in northwest Denver, they have a new one, just a few feet off the walking paths around Sloan s Lake Park.
The new Odell Brewery Sloan s Lake Brewhouse, at 1625 Perry Street, opens to the public today (Monday, April 5) at 11 a.m. This is the second Denver location for the 32-year-old Fort Collins brewery, but it is the first to offer housemade dining options, which include everything from pizzas with seasonal ingredients to a smoked pork belly flight, smoked trout dip, salads and soft pretzel bites.
