Exercise extravaganza for Odette Morris from Trowbridge

Odette Morris While many of us are struggling to muster up the energy for a daily walk this February, a 59-year-old woman from Trowbridge is taking on a gruelling multi-fitness challenge for two local charities. Odette Morris is aiming to complete a combination of 6,800 abdominal crunches and sit-ups, plus 1,500 press-ups and 50 miles on foot by the end of the month. She’s doing her challenge to raise money for the Julia’s House children’s hospice in Wiltshire and Dorothy House Hospice Care. Every day throughout this month, Odette will increase her level of activity, working up to a daunting 70 press-ups and a combination of 370 crunches and sit-ups on the 28th February. She’ll also be out running and walking in her local area to achieve her 50 mile goal.

Makerspace to hold date night class to make loveseats

Makerspace of Greenville, located at 102 Staton Court, Suite E, will host the “Viking Chair Loveseat” class at 6 p.m. on Feb. 25 taught by carpenter Chris Strathy where pupils will learn to create a loveseat from reclaimed pallets and two-by-fours. Chris Strathy said he has practiced carpentry his entire adult life. Strathy said last year he built a structure out of reclaimed materials which he had originally planned to donate to the city as a little library. After converting it to a food pantry, he built and donated three more to assist during the pandemic. Strathy said he taught the previous “Viking Chair” date night classes at Makerspace, a business where customers can purchase a membership in exchange for free use of tools and workspace. Strathy said he came up with the idea for the “Loveseat” class about a month ago, and he thought it would make a good introductory course in building. Crisp & Green CEO Steele Smiley set a 2021 goal of reaching 40 locations for his fast-casual salad and grain bowl restaurant chain. “I never envisioned we’d be at 38 by the second week of February,” he said. The Minneapolis-based company just inked a deal with a franchisee who will open 10 stores in Tampa and Orlando, with more to come in Florida. Currently, seven Crisp & Green locations are up and running in the Twin Cities as well as one in Dallas. Beyond Florida, another 21 are planned or under construction in Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Texas. All of those deals came together during the pandemic.
