Oceanside police dispatcher killed in desert head-on collision

Print A woman killed over the weekend in a fiery desert crash has been identified as a much-loved Oceanside native who worked 13 years in the city’s Police Department. Brett Ann Gregory, 53, worked 10 years as a community service officer in the department’s front office, where she helped people with police reports, fingerprints and other walk-in services. She became a 911 emergency dispatcher in 2015. “She dealt with the public with grace and dignity,” said Bonnie Stauffer, communications supervisor for the Police Department. “She was loved by all. Updated on January 26, 2021 at 10:40 pm San Diego County Sheriff s Department The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department has found a man who disappeared over the weekend when he was separated from his group while riding motorcycles in Borrego Springs. The SDSO launched a search for James “Jimmy” Rawlins III, 55, who had been riding an “endure-style motorcycle” with a group Sunday morning, off-roading in the area of state Route 78 and Yaqui Pass. The rural area is south of Borrego Springs, west of Ocotillo Wells, and about 14 miles south of the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park Visitor Center. At around 9:50 a.m. Sunday, Rawlins was separated from his group.
