While it suits his needs, Flaitz notes there are pros and cons to owning such a vehicle. WHEELING Pastor Alan Flaitz most definitely believes in the power of prayer. He also has put great faith in the power of his EV electric vehicle. Rev. Flaitz is the pastor at Fourth Street United Methodist Church in Wheeling and Pleasant Hills United Methodist Church near Sherrard. A year ago after much study into the idea of an electric-powered vehicle, Flaitz took the plunge and purchased a new Chevrolet Bolt. He is one of only about a dozen West Virginia residents who drive such a vehicle, according to state registration records.

JOSELYN KING Staff Writer WHEELING West Virginia’s political landscape likely will change with the 2020 Census, and Del. Erikka Storch wants to be among lawmakers crafting new congressional and delegate districts. Storch, R-Ohio, said she is interested in serving on the state’s redistricting committee this year, which is likely to convene during a special session this summer. The U.S.Census Bureau announced this week the COVID pandemic will cause it to miss year-end deadlines for providing some census information. Data used by states to determine political lines isn’t due until April 1. West Virginia is “widely expected” to lose one of its three Congressional representatives, Storch said.

Wheeling Park Commission Announces Retirement of CEO Lindelow; Welcomes Bob Peckenpaugh as New Leader | News, Sports, Jobs

WHEELING – David Lindelow has announced his retirement as president and CEO of the Wheeling Park Commission. “It has been my great honor and privilege to work alongside the Wheeling Park commissioners and countless other community leaders to further the mission and vision of Oglebay Park,” Lindelow said. “Serving the Ohio Valley by furthering the development of this incredible park system has been a highlight of my career.” Under Lindelow’s leadership, Oglebay has experienced exponential growth and a myriad of park improvements including the refurbishment of 30 cottages; a total renovation of Wheeling Park’s ice rink; a park-wide beautification project addressing much-needed maintenance and paving projects; and a total renovation of all Wilson Lodge meeting and event spaces slated for completion in 2021.

Mike Myer Attempting to compete with big cities would have been a fool’s errand for those attempting to rebuild Wheeling. With a few exceptions a very notable one being that Oglebay Park is both bigger and better than New York’s Central Park the Friendly City just can’t compete in the big leagues. City officials for the past few years have been attempting to install some of the amenities they believe young professionals want, with some success. For example, we have a dog park and more of the small shops that seem to be attractions in some cities. For years, we’ve had a nice system of walking/biking trails.
