Council awards city hall project design contract

Share to Jan 26, 2021 8:29 PM russ.byth@jpbg.ca West Kelowna council has approved spending almost a million dollars to proceed with project design plans for its first new city hall. The building would have 45-thousand square feet, 30,000 of which would be owned by the city and 15,000 owned by the Okanagan Regional Library. The timeline is to have it built and open by winter 2022. The location is the Westbank Centre at 3731 Old Okanagan Highway and adjacent to the city’s Johnson Bentley Memorial Aquatic Centre (JBMAC), Council has also said a new skate-park will be built as the building will take up the current skate-park location at Old Okanagan and Dobbin.

Share to Jan 22, 2021 1:53 PM Pete McIntyre West Kelowna Council will review a report at its Jan. 26 regular meeting that recommends award of the design services contract and outlines partnerships and next steps with the City Hall Project. The purpose of the report is: For staff to update Council on the site of West Kelowna’s future City Hall/Library building; For Council to award the Design Services Contract to Johnston Davidson Architecture and move forward from a concept to Preliminary Design; To confirm the equity partnership between the City and the Okanagan Regional Library, along with an update of community partnerships and potential tenant opportunities; and
