IT’S MARCH Women’s Month an important time to highlight the historical and present-day accomplishments of women. We celebrate female “firsts” in various fields and rightly so. But for too long, March as Women’s Month has been spent comparing women’s professional success with that of men’s. We are told to honor women’s advancement in their careers, but overlook the unpaid work that mothers have done for centuries. Honoring motherhood has been relegated to one day in May when we celebrate Mother’s Day, undermining the idea that mothering is important work that has contributed to society. Women can “work” and women can “mother” without feeling like they have to choose which identity is more important. In fact, a report by Oxfam in January 2020 calculated that women globally would have made $10.8 trillion dollars in 2019 if they earned minimum wage for their unpaid work that includes routine housework,
Universal Entertainment Corp’s idea for a stock-market listing in the United States of its Philippine casino resort, Okada Manila, via a special-purpose acquisition company (Spac), could be an “attractive offer to investors”, said Howard Klein in Thursday commentary.

In a February 12 announcement, Japan’s Universal Entertainment said it would be “formally examining” a listing for its Manila casino resort operating company, on either the Nasdaq or the New York Stock Exchange, via the Spac route. The aim was to raise money for “further expansion” of the Manila casino resort business, and to achieve “greater corporate group value”.

15 Philippine hotels make it to Forbes Travel Guide 2021 Star Awards

Courtesy: Nuwa Manila City of Dreams Despite the ongoing pandemic, Forbes Travel Guide Star Awards pushed through with this year s edition, and much like last year, 15 Philippine properties were recognized in this year’s Forbes Travel Guide Star Awards. Of the 15 Philippine properties, six were given the highest rating of five stars, with Marco Polo Ortigas and Sky Tower at Solaire Resort & Casino receiving the five-star rating for the fifth year in a row.

Fifteen Philippine hotels and spas were presented as winners in the prestigious annual list of the Forbes Travel Guide Star Award for the worldâs best luxury hotels, restaurants and spas.
Forbes Travel Guide named the Philippines’ tourist and recreation facilities among the Five-Star, Four-Star, and Recommended hotels, restaurants, and spas worldwide in the list released on February 16, 2021. The winners were surveyed both before the pandemic and when regional restrictions allowed FTGâs incognito evaluators to visit.
