Offaly has a brand new fishing club.
St Rynagh s Angling Development Alliance (ADA) has recently been established by local man Simon McGarry.
Speaking at the Official launch club chairperson Simon said: I have a huge interest in fishing and I have really enjoyed fishing in and around the Banagher area and for years. I ve thought that it s a real shame for Banagher not to have a club up and running with all the possible fishing venues in the local and surrounding areas on the Shannon.

When in 2008, Offaly County Council set out to make a new plan for the town of Tullamore, the world was a different place.
The economy was booming, house prices were sky high, huge shopping centres were being planned, the two car family and their three foreign holidays a year was not unusual. Combining with Athlone and Mullingar, Tullamore would form part of a regional counterbalance to Dublin and a new international airport would be its focus. What could possibly go wrong?

TRIBUTES have been paid to the late Bill Dolan, a stalwart of the Offaly Association in Dublin over many decades.
Bill, who passed away on Tuesday, June 8 last, was involved in all aspects of the Association and served in the position of Vice-President at the time of his death.
A native of Clonlyn, Belmont, tribute has been paid to him by Pat Teehan, the Chairman of Leinster GAA Council, and a former Chairman and Secretary of the Offaly Association (Dublin).
Extending sympathy to the deceased s family, Pat said “it would an understatement to describe Bill as one of life’s gentlemen. His caring and gentle nature endeared him to all, who had the pleasure of his company. “

Showing my age here now, watching Offaly beat Kerry in the 1972 football All-Ireland in the Hop Egan s pub in Boora with my father. First time I saw a colour TV. Great atmosphere and great memories. Legends like McTague, Cooney, Bryan, and McCormack.

Independent TD for Laois Offaly Carol Nolan has called on the Minister for Transport and the Road Safety Authority to ensure that the maximum number of Driver Theory Tests appointments can be carried out in the coming weeks.
Deputy Nolan said that her office is being contacted on a daily basis by people who are enduring major levels of inconvenience and threats to their livelihood because they cannot access timely appointments for the Test.
The RSA have stated publicly that the Driver Theory Test Service will re-open on a gradual basis from this week with a maximum monthly capacity of 25,000 tests initially, with volumes permitted to increase to 50,000 in time when government allows:
