St Rynagh s Angling Development Alliance (ADA) has recently been established by local man Simon McGarry. Speaking at the Official launch club chairperson Simon said: I have a huge interest in fishing and I have really enjoyed fishing in and around the Banagher area and for years. I ve thought that it s a real shame for Banagher not to have a club up and running with all the possible fishing venues in the local and surrounding areas on the Shannon.

Bill, who passed away on Tuesday, June 8 last, was involved in all aspects of the Association and served in the position of Vice-President at the time of his death. A native of Clonlyn, Belmont, tribute has been paid to him by Pat Teehan, the Chairman of Leinster GAA Council, and a former Chairman and Secretary of the Offaly Association (Dublin). Extending sympathy to the deceased s family, Pat said “it would an understatement to describe Bill as one of life’s gentlemen.  His caring and gentle nature endeared him to all, who had the pleasure of his company. “

Driver theory test appointments still causing headache for Offaly people Driver theory test appointments still causing headache for Offaly people Reporter: );   ); Independent TD for Laois Offaly Carol Nolan has called on the Minister for Transport and the Road Safety Authority to ensure that the maximum number of Driver Theory Tests appointments can be carried out in the coming weeks. Deputy Nolan said that her office is being contacted on a daily basis by people who are enduring major levels of inconvenience and threats to their livelihood because they cannot access timely appointments for the Test. The RSA have stated publicly that the Driver Theory Test Service will re-open on a gradual basis from this week with a maximum monthly capacity of 25,000 tests initially, with volumes permitted to increase to 50,000 in time when government allows:
