After making history at the 93rd Academy Awards for her Best Supporting Actress win for her role in “Minari,” Youn Yuh Jung held a press conference with Korean reporters that was broadcast live on KBS 1TV.
At the press conference, Youn Yuh Jung praised her fellow nominees and said, “I’m still in a daze. I didn’t think I would win. I wanted Glenn Close to win.” She said that she had seen Glenn Close in a play in 2000 and said, “I thought she was amazing. She’s the same age as me, and I sincerely wanted her to win. The ‘Minari’ people said that I would get it, but I didn’t believe them. Maybe it’s because I’ve lived a long time and gone through a lot of betrayals, but I didn’t get my hopes up.”

The swanky 93rd Academy Awards took place in Los Angeles last night - and it was a big night for the Brits as Anthony Hopkins landed the Oscar for Best Actor. It was thought to be going to the late Chadwick Boseman for his role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom who died last year after a cancer battle.
In a Hollywood twist of events, the Academy handed out the Best Actor award last instead of Best Picture seeing Hopkins became the oldest ever acting Oscar winner for his heartwrenching role in The Father playing a dementia-suffering man opposite Olivia Colman.

They were a long time coming, but the 93rd Academy Awards proved to be well worth the wait – with a star-studded ceremony taking place across various venues in LA last night.

As many had predicted, Nomadland proved to be the most successful film on the night, walking away with three massive awards in the shape of Best Picture, Best Director for Chloe Zhao and Best Actress for Frances McDormand.
Perhaps the biggest shock was the win in the Best Actor category for Sir Anthony Hopkins, who won ahead of the late Chadwick Boseman and became the oldest person ever to be awarded an acting Oscar in the process.
