Tim Hardaway Jr. hits seven treys as Mavericks beat hapless Cavaliers

Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 25 points while hitting on 7 of his 11 3-point shots as the surging Dallas Mavericks defeated the host Cleveland Cavaliers 124-97 on Sunday in the second game of a home-and-home set between the two teams.
The Mavericks (40-28) won for the fourth straight game and are a season-best 12 games over .500. Dallas remained in fifth place in the Western Conference, moving a game in front of idle Portland in the standings with four games to play.
Josh Richardson added 20 points for the Mavericks, and Luka Doncic scored 15 before being ejected early in the third quarter. Jalen Brunson hit for 13 points and Dwight Powell tallied 12.

The Indiana Pacers (31-36) will visit the Clevland Cavaliers (21-47) on Monday evening, and it is a matchup of two teams that have different aspirations as the season approaches its end. The Pacers remain just two and a half games up on the Chicago Bulls (29-39) for the tenth and final playoff spot, while the Cavs head to the lottery for another season.

The Dallas Mavericks, who have won five of their past six games, face the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers Friday night in their continuing quest for a favorable playoff seeding.
The Cavaliers, meanwhile, are playing out the season and will be trying to end an eight-game losing streak.
This will be the first meeting of the season between the teams, who will meet again Sunday in Cleveland.
The Mavericks (38-28) defeated the visiting Brooklyn Nets 113-109 Thursday night for their eighth win in their past 10 games. They ve only lost three times since April 18, and all three came against the Sacramento Kings.
