OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Devontae Shuler and Mississippi put the clamps on No. 11 Tennesseeâs offense in a game characteristic of the Southeastern Conferenceâs two stingiest teams.
Shuler scored 15 points and fueled a second-half rally as the Rebels beat the Volunteers 52-50 on Tuesday night, their first win over a ranked team in more than two years.
Tennessee went 12:27 without a field goal in the second half.
âDown the stretch, we made some game-winning plays,â Ole Miss coach Kermit Davis said. âIt was just a whole group effort, and Iâm just so happy to see this team taste that victory.

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) Devontae Shuler scored 15 points and fueled a second-half rally as Mississippi beat No. 11 Tennessee 52-50.
It was the Rebels’ first win over a ranked team in more than two years.
Ole Miss rallied from an 11-point first-half deficit and then withstood a late challenge by the Volunteers to stop a two-game skid.
Yves Pons led the Vols with 13 points and Keon Johnson had 11.
How It Happened
After trailing by 11 points in the second half, the Rebels’ dominated their way to an 11-0 run to take the lead with less than six minutes to go in the games’ final moments.
The Vols began to struggle as the team went 12:27 without making a field goal in the second half. Tennessee failed to get any shots to fall from the floor starting at the 13:09 mark in the game, all the way until 40.9 seconds remained on the game clock.
Missed opportunities cost the Volunteers as players missed one of two free throws with three seconds left that could have tied the score even at 51 apiece. However, with Ole Miss only converting one of their two free throws on the following possession, the Rebels’ allowed Tennessee one final shot at the buzzer.
