Three local college presidents are among only 13 nationwide to be recognized last week for leadership in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion by the Assoc. of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) and the education-technology company Cengage.

Holyoke Community College President Christina Royal, Greenfield Community College President Yves Salomon-Fernández, and Elms College President Harry Dumay were among that select group of 13 to receive the AAC&U-Cengage Inclusion Scholarship, which recognizes college and university presidents whose outstanding leadership to advance liberal education has resulted in reduced equity gaps, improved inclusion and belonging for minority students, and reformed hiring practices to promote greater diversity.

The presidents of Holyoke Community College, Greenfield Community College and Elms College of Chicopee have been recognized for leadership in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion by the Association of American Colleges and Universities and the education technology company Cengage.
Thirteen college presidents nationwide received the AAC&U-Centage Inclusion Scholarship. Three were within 40 miles of each other in Western Massachusetts.

GREENFIELD The state has opened its Stop the Spread COVID-19 testing site at Greenfield Community College, which allows people without symptoms to get tested for free.
Mayor Roxann Wedegartner said the testing initiative is a collaboration between the city, the state, the college and CIC Health of Cambridge, which is conducting the tests and providing the results to individuals. GCC, which has been closed to in-person learning since last spring, is hosting the site in Sloan Theater.

GREENFIELD The state has opened its Stop the Spread COVID-19 free testing site at Greenfield Community College, which allows people without symptoms to get tested if they have concerns.
Mayor Roxann Wedegartner said the testing initiative is a collaboration between the city, the state, the college and CIC Health of Cambridge, which is doing the tests and providing the results to individuals. GCC at One College Drive is hosting the site in Sloan Theater. GCC has been closed to in-person learning since last spring.
