Eileen Smith is Ireland’s style queen for good reason. The 81-year-old grandmother of 13 never goes to bed without planning her next outfit, even while she cocoons during lockdown.
“I would never go to bed without leaving my clothes out for the next day, even these days. I’ve started to put a little perfume on as well every day and I wear lots of colour,” she says. “I don t understand why when people get to 60 all they wear is beige and grey. I always said I was never going to be a beige lady.”

For Eileen Smith, working from home has been a glamorous and chaotic experience.
The Instagram style star and grandmother, who found fame posting photos of her outfits on her account @eileenstylequeen, has been keeping busy between starring on The Style Counsellors with Suzanne Jackson, cleaning out her wardrobes and cooking for husband Larry. I make lovely meals every night, she tells me over the phone. I think I nearly killed them last night. I did a dessert that had butter and sugar in it. And he sleeps in another room and I haven t heard him up this morning. So I nearly need to go in and look to see that I didn t kill him last night, she laughs.
