Bench warrant issued for owner of Marlena s Bistro
HOLLAND Following a court hearing for Marlena s Bistro and Pizzeria in Holland, a judge ordered a bench warrant be issued for the restaurant owner.
The hearing was scheduled to determine whether a temporary restraining order issued by the court Thursday, Feb. 25, would result in a preliminary injunction because the owner continues to flout state and judicial orders.
Once arrested, Marlena Pavlos-Hackney will remain incarcerated unless she complies with the order to cease operations until she obtains a valid food license.
Marlena s food license was suspended in January by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) after Pavlos-Hackney failed to close her dining room in compliance with a statewide two-and-a-half month shutdown for in-person dining in restaurants.

GAYLORD An Ingham County circuit court judge granted a temporary restraining order Wednesday that bars owner Ian Murphy from operating the Iron Pig Smokehouse while his food license is suspended.
Judge Clinton Canady III approved a request for the order while ruling on a motion from the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD).
“This court finds that Plaintiff (MDARD) has demonstrated the necessity for immediate action to prevent the continued violation of Michigan Food Law, and that continued operations of Iron Pig Smokehouse creates an imminent threat to the public health. This court further finds that absent this temporary restraining order, MDARD and the public will suffer irreparable harm,” said Canady’s ruling.
