RYANAIR has called for Ireland s outdated travel restrictions to be lifted by the end of May.
The airline s CEO Eddie Wilson said there s no longer a need for the measures including mandatory hotel quarantine due to the success of the vaccination rollout and falling Covid figures.

Speaking on RTE s Morning Ireland, he said: Thanks to the success of the UK s vaccine program, there is no justification for requiring visitors to Ireland from the UK (our major visitor market) to quarantine. The vast majority of the UK adult population have now received their first dose vaccination, and therefore pose no threat or risk to Ireland’s hospitals or health service.

IRELAND can expect to adopt the European Digital Green Certificate program for travel by the end of June, the European Affairs Minister has said.
Fianna Fail TD Thomas Byrne said that officials are already working on adapting the system for Ireland and have applied to an EU fund to finance the work.

The European Parliament last week adopted proposals to introduce the new certificate to open up travel across the bloc.
The cert will be available to people who have been vaccinated against coronavirus, those who test negative for the virus or who have recovered from a Covid-19 infection.
