Michigan’s weekend weather has a snowstorm to keep an eye on

We will need to keep an eye on the next large-scale storm system, scheduled to be near Michigan Sunday into Monday. Weekend temperatures are definitely going to feel like late January.
The storm system is a big rain and snow producer in California right now. Given that the storm is still across the country, please follow the weekend forecast with me over Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday will be an excellent winter day to travel. There should be some sunshine, although it will be cold.
The trend on the snowstorm is for a gradual shift northward over the last three rounds of the model data. Three runs ago the four inch plus snow was just south of the Michigan border. The latest runs as of last night bring the four inch plus line into southern Lower Michigan.

There are two storm systems that are showing up on all of our model data. These two storm systems look like they will be fairly large storms as they cross over the Great Lakes region in the next 10 days. I don’t want you to feel like two huge snowstorms are a certainty over Michigan. The path of these storms does mean they could produce a solid blanket of snow somewhere over the Great Lakes region.

Winter Storm Watch in effect Monday for areas west of DC article
WASHINGTON - As we continue to monitor the two winter storm systems for this week, the Monday through Tuesday storm forecast has continued with the models to indicate more of a widespread rain event for D.C., and areas to the south and east of the nation s capital.
However, the European Model wants to bring in a bit of mix and snow Monday evening.
The best chance of accumulating snow will be for areas north, west and northwest of Interstate 95 near the Mason-Dixon Line and from the District to Fredericksburg and North of US-50 in Maryland and over the higher elevations of Virginia and West Virginia.
