Trstenjak wins gold at European Judo Championships, Leški bronze

Slovenia Times 19. April, 2021 Lisbon – Slovenian judoka Tina Trstenjak won gold at the European Judo Championships 2021 in the women’s 63 kg event in Lisbon, Portugal on Saturday. She won against Russia’s Daria Davydova. Fellow Slovenian judoka Andreja LeÅ¡ki got a bronze in the same category earlier. Trstenjak, an Olympic champion at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro, got the better of Davydova at the end of the match after a demanding contest. The 30-year-old already has two gold medals from the European Championships in 2017 and 2016. She was also a world champion in 2015. Slovenia’s Andreja LeÅ¡ki meanwhile claimed bronze in the women’s 63 kg or half-middleweight event at this year’s European Championships, having beaten Poland’s Agata Ozdoba-Blach.

IJF President recognised by Polish Olympic Committee for helping judo in Poland

Monday, 19 April 2021 International Judo Federation (IJF) President Marius Vizer has received a medal in recognition of his support for judo development in Poland from the Polish Olympic Committee (POC). Vizer received the centenary anniversary medal of the POC on Friday (April 16), presented to him by the National Olympic Committee s President, Andrzej Kraśnicki. During the ceremony, Kraśnicki praised Vizer, thanking the official for the help of the IJF. Kraśnicki said that the IJF s mental and financial support are essential to the sport s development in Poland. Last week, Beata Pacut won a gold medal for Poland at the European Judo Championships in Lisbon, triumphing in the women s under-78-kilgram division.
