Swiss institution lands European âMuseum Oscarâ

The Stapferhaus in Lenzburg, a town just west of Zurich, was handed the prestigious European Museum of the Year Award for 2020 during an online event, after last yearâs awards were postponed due to the pandemic.

The museum was lauded by the European Museum Forum (EMF), which gives out the award, for its âinnovative, creative and forward-thinking approach [that] offers a model for the museum as laboratory for the art of livingâ.

Today Lithuanian lockdown restrictions are enforced once again to contain the spread of the pandemic. While museums are still closed off for the public, Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, continues to prove that art can exist and find its viewers outside the walls of the galleries.
