The violence came in response to loyalist anger about the terms of the Northern Ireland protocol coupled with last week s news that the PPS would not be pursuing Sinn Fein members over alleged breaches of coronavirus regulations at last summer s funeral of Republican Bobby Storey.
Speaking of the unrest in Derry, Derry and Strabane District Commander of the PSNI, Darrin Jones, condemned what he said were “disgraceful scenes during which cars were set on fire and property damaged”.
He added: “This is reckless and criminal behaviour, and it has to stop. It is absolutely appalling and achieved nothing except harm to our community.
The family of murdered German teenager Inga Maria Hauser, whose body was found in a Northern Irish forest in 1988, have made a fresh appeal for information 33 years after their loved one died.
The body of the 18-year-old was found in Ballypatrick Forest near Ballycastle in north County Antrim after she was last seen on a ferry travelling from Scotland to Larne in April of that year.

Keith Duffy has opened up about the painful struggle to get his daughter Mia correctly diagnosed with autism after being put on a two-and-a-half-year waiting list.
The former Boyzone star spoke to Cat Deeley on ITV’s Lorraine today about the long battle he and his wife Lisa endured to get Mia’s diagnosis.
He explained that the couple knew that something was wrong and had their daughter undergo multiple tests before they suspected she might be on the spectrum but were told that the waiting list for an autism diagnosis was two and half years long.
The singer shared: “We didn t know what was going on, like most parents, we thought she might have had a hearing problem. We got a hearing test done and that was fine. It takes you a while to kind of figure out what’s going on and we knew nothing at the time about autism. We hadn’t got a clue what we were even looking for.
