In 1908, as the world’s attention focused on the Olympic Games in London, Britain had decided again not to allow Ireland to field its own team, imperiously stating, “Ireland is not a nation.” All Irish athletes would have to compete as members of the British team.
New Ross Town FC s Liam Rossiter will receive nationwide recognition for his dedicated work with New Ross Town Football Club this week.
Liam will be awarded the Wexford Federation of Irish Sport Volunteers in Sport awards in a virtual ceremony, supported by EBS Mortgage Masters.
Described as an integral part of the club, Liam s impact is not only visible to his club but is visible throughout the community and wider county. He is known as the man who runs New Ross Town FC. He is an inclusive and welcoming man who encourages everyone from all walks of life and backgrounds. The club provides a space for everyone to be themselves without judgement and strives to ensure that football is provided for all - regardless of their ability.
