People urged to support a very different Daffodil Day this year Reporter: );   ); Pat Murphy is a Daffodil Day organiser in Kildare Town. Pat and his late partner Paul Robinson started collecting for Daffodil Day in 2007, when Paul was diagnosed with CLL, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia. Paul was monitored for a number of years in Tallaght Hospital. He continued working and enjoying life. But in 2012 he started to get more tired than usual and he looked pale, this was when Paul started on Chemotherapy. He had six months of chemo which was hard. Paul was told to take early retirement as he was at risk of infections. When Paul gave up work, he was conscious he needed to keep himself busy.

Carlow virtual run raises over €10k for worthy charities Wednesday, March 10, 2021 Noeleen Condron from Carlow who took part in this year’s Charlie Curran Memorial Run THE Charlie Curran Memorial Run raised over €10,000 for two fantastic charities despite the challenge of Covid-19. More than 750 men, women and children took part in this year’s virtual event during January and February, raising funds for Down Syndrome Ireland and the Irish Cancer Society. The event is organised in memory of the late Charlie Curran Snr of Dereen Heights. People were encouraged to get out and about and cover any distance, whether it was walking, running, cycling even swimming.
