Cancer fundraiser by bereaved Laois daughter is raising an incredible sum

A fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society begun by a Laois women who lost her mother to the disease, has raised an incredible sum within a single day.
Jenny Bowe from Rathdowney started the fundraiser as a Facebook birthday event, in memory of her mother.
Frances Bowe (below) from Quigley Park sadly died last week on May 5 and was laid to rest days ago on Saturday May 8.
She is mourned by her loving husband Paddy and her children Thomas, Patrick, Martin, Kieran, Claire, Brian, Sarah, Damien and Jennifer.

The death has occurred of Michael (Mickey) Finucane Clounleharde, Ballyhahill, Limerick. Michael (Mickey) Finucane, Predeceased by his parents Patrick & Margaret, sister Bridie and his adored grandson Liam.
Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Mary, son Hawlie, daughter Elaine, grandchildren Rachel, Ewyon and Bowie, daughter in law Breda, son in law Paudie, nephew, sister in law Kathleen and her husband Jim and family, relatives, neighbours and many friends. May he rest in peace.
A private family funeral will take place for immediate family due to government advice and H.S.E. guidelines regarding public gatherings.
Longford man raises over €20k for Ewing’s Sarcoma

A Longford man has raised over €26,000 for Ewing’s Sarcoma Research thanks to over a thousand generous people donating to his Shave or Dye fundraiser.
Oisin Hagan set up the funraiser in recent weeks, with an initial target of €20,000.
“A group of us have decided to raise money for Ewing’s Sarcoma in support of our friend who is currently battling the disease,” Oisin told the Longford Leader.
“We have all decided to take part in the shave or dye fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society. Annually the Irish cancer society raise money with different fundraisers but due to Covid a lot of these have been postponed.
