Tuition for students at Iowa Central Community College will be increasing by about 2% for the 2021-2022 school year.
This will be the third year of the college’s flat rate tuition offering where students could take anywhere between 12 and 18 credit hours per semester for one flat rate.
Angie Martin, Iowa Central vice president for financial services, told the college’s Board of Directors on Tuesday evening that the flat-rate tuition is something that will be reviewed internally to see if it is something the college wants to stick with, but because of COVID-19 negatively affecting enrollment, Iowa Central will continue with the flat rate tuition for at least one more year as administrators gather more data.

Last year Amanda McNeese, a critical care nurse at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, had the priceless opportunity to walk a COVID-19 patient out of the ICU.
McNeese cared for the patient for 28 days in the fall. He spent 17 of those days on a ventilator.
âHe wanted to make it home before his daughterâs boyfriend graduated from cadet school so it was a big thing for him,â McNeese said.
The patient was released from the hospital in time to attend the ceremony. He has also returned to work.
Itâs rare to be able to walk any patient out of the ICU, especially a COVID patient, according to McNeese.
