It was her 3-year-old daughter, Gia, saying, “Meow, meow,” from the sidelines in Waco, Texas, giving her an unexpected, and much-needed, boost of confidence. “[Gia] loves cats, so [hearing] that helped me not give up,” Williams, 27, told Runner’s World. “Usually around 200 [meters], I kind of doubt myself because that’s usually where I feel pain in the 800, like I can’t finish. But I was finally able to finish this one.”

Talley, Moton, St Clair Win Midwest Region Honors for Indoor Season

(NDSU Athletics) – North Dakota State University throwers Alex Talley and Akealy Moton, along with associate director of track & field Justin St. Clair, have been announced as winners of USTFCCCA regional awards for the 2021 indoor season. Talley was named the men’s Midwest Region Field Athlete of the Year, while Moton claimed the same accolade on the women’s side. Both are West Fargo, N.D., natives and products of West Fargo HS. St. Clair was chosen as the men’s Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year – his eighth regional honor since 2016.

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas track & field will travel to Ames, Iowa to compete in the Iowa State Classic from February 12-13, as the Jayhawks compete in their fifth meet of the 2021 indoor season and final before postseason competition. The meet will begin at 1 p.m., on Friday, beginning with the filed events, followed by track events beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday’s events will begin at 12 p.m., with events streaming on FloTrack, while live results will be available throughout the entirety of the meet, here. Two weeks ago at the Texas Tech Invitational, junior Zach Bradford marked the No. 3 mark in KU indoor history in the pole vault at 5.75m (18-10.25 ft.), while junior Samantha Van Hoecke also climbed into the record books in the pole vault, vaulting a personal best 4.31m (14-1.75 ft.) to become the No. 4 performer in KU women’s indoor history.
