WASHINGTON (AP) President Joe Biden on Tuesday set a new vaccination goal to deliver at least one shot to 70% of adult Americans by July Fourth as he tackles the vexing problem of winning over the “doubters” and those unmotivated to get inoculated.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced on Thursday that the state would be returning over $95 million in COVID-19 relief funding to the federal government. I just returned 95-million dollars because they sent an additional 95-million dollars to the state of Iowa to get our kids back in the classroom by doing surveillance testing, Reynolds said in a town hall on Fox News Thursday night. I said we ve been in the classroom since August, here is your 95-million dollars back.
In a letter to the CDC, interim Iowa Department of Public Health Director Kelly Garcia said if the money could be used for something other than testing, the state would keep it. The letter also says Iowa has ample funding and testing capacity available for its schools .

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds said she hopes she will be able to sign a bill this spring that would ban transgender girls and women from competing in athletics with the gender they identify as.
So far, neither the Republican-controlled Iowa House nor Senate has advanced such legislation, which has appeared in at least 30 other states this year. But Iowa lawmakers are continuing to discuss the proposal.
Reynolds signaled her support Thursday evening during a Fox News town hall, where she appeared on a panel of Republican governors. She said we re working on legislation about the issue, and that she hopes to have it to her desk by the end of the annual legislative session, which is entering its final days.
