Jimmy Spithill s US boat had a collision and capsize on the final day of SailGP action in Bermuda. Spithill said his crew tried to finish the race but lost control of the wingsail and then the port rudder snapped and locked. The boat rolled over on its side, with the wingsail resting in the water, AP reported.

The results from the first day of racing in the Bermuda Sail Grand Prix presented by Hamilton Princess have been released, with Australia at the top of the leaderboard with a clean sweep of three wins.

The long-awaited start of SailGP Season 2 got underway in spectacular fashion – steady winds, blue skies, beautiful turquoise Bermuda water and eight of the sport’s top athletes raring to go and make an early claim on the championship title.
