Six60 will go on at 8:30. Eden Park chief Nick Sautner says a lot of work has gone into making the concert a reality. He says the concert will be one of the most memorable events in New Zealand history.

Video / Six60 Herald on Sunday Chart-toppers Six60 have written a new chapter in their rich history - becoming the first Kiwi band to headline a gig at world-famous sporting ground Eden Park. A sell-out crowd of about 50,000 were in attendance for the historic night; a gig that followed a successful consent bid with Auckland Council to be able to host music events there. Before taking to the stage at Eden Park last night, as well as having a series of chart-topping singles and albums, Six60 was the first Kiwi band to sell-out Auckland s other iconic venue Western Springs - which they have now done twice.

Throughout the show Walters provided between-songs patter on the gravity of the concert, touching on the long-drawn-out battle. “What’s up Eden Park,” he had yelled to the crowd after the band’s introductory two songs, which included an especially powerful rendition of Don t Forget Your Roots. Ricky Wilson/Stuff Despite the rain, nothing could put a damper on fans’ enthusiasm for the gig. “You don’t know how long we’ve been waiting to say that. We finally made it!” Whether the crowd were yelling or tearing up, dancing or embracing, it was clear the band’s selection of tracks had a lasting effect on all those in attendance.
