Billionaire Dyson moves residency back to the UK

Billionaire Dyson moves residency back to the UK High-profile businessman Sir James Dyson has moved his residency back to the UK from Singapore. He now lives primarily in the UK according to filings for his companies, which include his family office. Sir James had in 2019 faced criticism after he announced that he would relocate his firm s global head office to Singapore. This week he was also involved in a controversy over texting UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson over tax issues. A Dyson spokesman declined to comment on Sir James residence and tax status but did say: The structure of the group and the business rationale underpinning it are unaltered.

Johnson refuses to apologise for Dyson texts

Johnson refuses to apologise for Dyson texts Top Story April 22, 2021 LONDON: Boris Johnson made “absolutely no apology at all” for text message exchanges about businessman Sir James Dyson’s concerns about the tax status of his employees, amid claims of “sleaze and cronyism” in his government. The Prime Minister personally promised Sir James he would “fix” an issue over the tax status of his workers after he was directly lobbied by the entrepreneur, who was seeking to build ventilators at the height of the coronavirus crisis. Johnson said he was “happy to share all the details” of the exchanges as there was “nothing to conceal”. Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer suggested it was “one rule for those that have got the Prime Minister’s phone number, another for everybody else”. The BBC said it has seen a series of text messages between Johnson and Sir James after the businessman was unable to get the assurances he was seeking from the Treasury.
