News UK & Ireland Ltd is pleased to confirm that subject to regulatory approval, an agreement has been reached with Smurfit Kappa to acquire full ownership of the Smurfit Kappa News Press (SKNP) print business based at Kells.
News UK & Ireland already owns the Kells site, which is leased to SKNP as part of a long term printing agreement. The site prints a number of national publications including The Sun, The Sunday Times, The Daily Mail, The i and The FT.
A spokesperson for News UK & Ireland Ltd said “We have enjoyed a successful relationship with Smurfit Kappa for over 20 years and, with the current print contract entering its final phase, this agreement provides the opportunity for News UK & Ireland to secure its longer term printing arrangements and route to market in Ireland.”
A girl who was scalded when a cup of hot tea spilled on her in a McDonaldâs restaurant has settled her High Court action for â¬65,700.
Sum Yee Nam was seven at the time the incident happened in the Mc Donaldâs outlet on Grafton Street, Dublin in on May 14th, 2017.
She was sitting at a table with her mother and younger sister when, it was claimed, a McDonaldâs worker was attempting to clean the table and accidentally knocked over a cup of hot tea, which spilled on to the childâs legs and left foot.
It was claimed there was failure to take any or any adequate care when cleaning the table.

The High Court has appointed a provisional liquidator to a shipping company which claims it has become “hopelessly insolvent” due to apparent fraud by its managing director.
The order was made in relation to a Co Louth-based freight-forwarding business Fast ShippingIreland Ltd, which employs nine people.
Following a probe of its financial affairs, the company claims its currently suspended managing director, Simon Mulvany, used its monies for his own benefit, including the purchase of two racehorses.
The firm, which primarily organised the uploading and transportation of goods shipped to Ireland mainly through Drogheda Port, is a subsidiary of Belgian company Fast Lanes Belgium N

PLANS to significantly expand the McDonald s restaurant in Castletroy have been revealed.
In a move which will create 25 new jobs, the fast food giant is planning to invest more than €1m intro its restaurant beside the area s shopping centre.
A spokesperson for the firm said the Experience of the Future transformation will see a new dual-lane drive-thru, plus refurbishments to the kitchen and dining areas.
If planning is granted, the spokesperson said, the works will take approximately 5 weeks.
Two new drive-thru lanes are planned, side-by-side, replacing the one currently in place.
