DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. (AP) â Two men are accused of pretending to be federal marshals and flashing phony credentials to get out of wearing facial coverings at a South Florida resort hotel.
When the staff at the Wyndham Deerfield Beach Resort asked Walter Wayne Brown Jr., 53, and Gary Brummett, 81, to cover their faces, the men refused, and threatened to arrest employees and saddle the hotel with a fine, the South Florida SunSentinel reported.
The scheme collapsed when one employee thought they were acting suspicious and called police on Feb. 11. Officers and a real U.S. marshal arrived and arrested the men on charges of impersonating a federal officer.

Nebraska s top election official Wednesday called for the state to require voter identification as a means to prevent fraud in elections.
Secretary of State Bob Evnen said there has been little evidence of voter fraud in the state. But he described a proposed constitutional amendment as an ounce of prevention to help Nebraska stay ahead of potential problems and to bolster public confidence in elections. We have to make sure that itâs easy to vote and hard to cheat, he told members of the Legislature s Government, Military and Veterans Affairs Committee.
Evnen urged the committee to advance an amended version of LR3CA, introduced by State Sen. Julie Slama of Peru.Â

Even after the 7,000 National Guard troops currently deployed around the United States Capitol pack up following the impeachment trial, the Hill will not be returning to normal. “We must harden this campus,” House Sergeant at Arms Timothy Blodgett warned in a closed Appropriations Committee session late last month. Yogananda Pittman, the acting chief of the Capitol Police, recently called for “vast improvements to the physical security infrastructure.” Those plans prompted by the January 6 riot that is now the subject of a presidential-impeachment trial would include expanding the perimeter around Congress by several blocks to encircle House and Senate office buildings; adding permanent fencing; and positioning rapid-response forces around the complex.

Joint director, social justice department, R P Singh, said that Bhopal is, perhaps, the first district in the country to be giving ID cards to persons from the third gender.
